Re: Southport 1-1 Boston - Match Thread

To be fair Adams is a winger, and played wing back for Dundalk, which is good for us going forward. On Connor, it’s clear he has not developed in the way the club had hoped a la Baker and Duffy. He was always likely to be released in the summer, so, given the finances and his frustration not to star...

Re: Southport 2-1 Blyth Spartans

What were the Chairman and Manager supposed to do? Lie, bury their heads in the sand etc, etc. They had the guts to tell the truth and i suggest people look at what the owner of Peterborough Sports has said if he gets no financial help. Gloucester joint owner Alex Petheram said a couple of days lat...

Can you point me to where the board said they have no intention of taking the club any further?

Re: Southport 2-1 Blyth Spartans

Absolutely bewildering that people may have chosen to stay away in response to their club admitting that money is very tight. If you’re not willing to put your hand in your pocket every other week to support your own club when it needs it then why should anyone invest?

Re: A dose of reality

Are you proposing we spend crazy money? Me? No not at all. I just don't see the point of existence for the sake of it. The Q&A and the style of play on the pitch all comes across as tired and dated. I think we all knew the score after Carver left last season and wasn't replaced. There must have...

A dose of reality

I don't want to reprise what's been said on other threads, but I thought it might be useful for some to look at the financial situations of other non-league clubs. The grim reality is that there are lots of clubs heavily-laden with debt who are attempting to chase the sun. It's not a level playing f...

Re: Q&A with Ian and Liam

Asking people to part with their hard earned cash to watch a team/club basically stagnate at best with no will or desire to try and be upwardly mobile and openly admitting it is going to see attendances drop at a rate of knots. I won't be going again as stands after hearing that and I certainly won...

Re: Q&A with Ian and Liam

The lads in the JC get behind the team every week....and have diverted from the budget at least £1500 per home game for security. That's more than the difference between having the star striker you crave, and not.

Re: Q&A with Ian and Liam

Supporters Trusts are Community Benefit Societies and are not to be treated as a cash cow to raise operational funds for the club. .... rather than to throw money at a privately owned limited company. My view is that the point of a SFC trust must work with the club to ensure its viability, represen...

Re: Q&A with Ian and Liam

For an idea of what we're up against, this Twitter account is very interesting: https://twitter.com/BenPearson1997 Peterborough Sports lost £264k in 21/22, as they won promotion via the play-offs to the Conference North. Wages were 110% of total annual turnover. Total debts of £348k. Of which, £115k...

Maybe instead of the moaning, some on here could ask themselves what they can do to help the club in this moment of need.

Correct. The hysteria on here, and elsewhere on social media, is baffling.
The club have done the right thing - why are they getting pelters?

Re: Darlington 0-0 Southport - Match Thread

Strong point. Crap ground, crap pitch and crap weather. Had a couple of good chances ourselves but point was fair. Tony Mac was probably our MOTM. Hmami went off injured.

How isn't that a penalty when the keeper clattered Archer??
He's behind their defender when the ball is halfway to him, so I'll hazard a guess he was well onside...

Two disallowed goals that were onside, and pretty much a stonewall penalty turned down.
Got to feel for the lads, and the fans that travelled. Tough cards to be dealt. Again.

Team coach set off half an hour before me, and I got here at 6.30pm.

Staggered to learn about what Ian and Claire have had to face. If you’re one of the muppets abusing them on social media, pack it in. You’re not Southport fans.
