Re: Buxton 0-1 Southport - Match Thread

After the Blyth game I’m not convinced penalties need to be for anything any more.

Re: Buxton (a) - Sat 25/11

I’ll be in Glasgow til the wee hours so will be breaking the promise I made to Roy the Dog last season to take him to his first Southport game 😞

I’m going for a home win on this one though, for no real reason.

Who’d have thought a non league football forum would be full of so many train enthusiasts?

Oh wait…

Re: Peter Mitchell on the radio

Lifting the U16 ban may possible be a little naive in my opinion. If (when?) the pyro and the aggro comes back then the new boards approach will risk putting them in the firing line.

Re: Southpor 1-1 Farsley Celtic - Match Thread

Just a few observations.

We gifted Farsley with too much.

There are too many players in our first eleven who are consistently wasteful with possession.

More positively, we could have won that and I thought Bennett looked a class above the rest.

Referees at this level really are shit.

Agreed. It’s much better from a marketing point of view.

Re: Blyth Spartans 3-3 Southport - Match Thread

Reminds me a bit of when Jon McKenna was signed - lots of people loved Moorsey and wouldn't have accepted whoever replaced him. People saying that Renshaw is our worst ever keeper can't have watched us play much in the last 10 years. Although i was buzzing when we signed McKenna at the start of the...

Re: Blyth Spartans 3-3 Southport - Match Thread

The league is ridiculously close. Win on Saturday and we could be in the playoffs, lose and we could be in the relegation zone. No other teams playing on Saturday then? “Sorry I’m late for our meeting, <s>I was checking the Conf North fixtures this Saturday to prove a point to someone on a non leag...

Lots of updates on mine. Suspect any issues will be due to Elon and his mates rather than anything we’ve not done.

Re: Big Help buy Majority shareholding

Would be interested to know the thought behind bringing training to Southport. Unless players actually live in Southport or the northern outskirts then Skem is easier for anyone anywhere. Perhaps investing in local facilities may also include opening them up to the local community so better for the...

OK,will give it a rest, however as far as I'm aware last season we finished in are lowest place in the football pyramid in are 100 year history, I rest my case. Up the port Doesn't make us the Dog & Duck though, that is your perception on this league and your snobbery about our League Heritage. ...

Re: Big Help buy Majority shareholding

Not sure why people seem so cautious now when a previous owner swept-in relatively unchallenged. I suspect The Big Help Group see the club as a community asset and will benefit by using the club as a hub for expanding their services into Southport, which in turn will benefit the club. I guess we’ll ...

I’ve read a lot of comments telling him that the fans are the true owners of Sheffield Wednesday, so him telling 20,000 of them to stick £100 in each did raise a smile.

Must be pretty daunting running a football club for the first time, I suspect you’d really not want to do it without the existing staff.

Re: Thank you Ian Kyle and family

I echo the sentiments of the original post, and hope Ian is keeping some shares and staying on at board level - but I won’t blame him if he doesn’t. He was dealt some very difficult hands in a role he didn’t sign up for, cleaning up Phil’s mess, covid, trouble from the Jack Carr, but he got us throu...
