Good point. Never easy at Latimer Park.
Predictable Portchat meltdown from the village idiots.

Absolutely.
Just pleased we've had a few more positive posters tonight, who agree a point away at a previously bogey teams ground is a good result. Plus after listening to Liams interview, apparently we've had a sickness bug go through the team like a dose of salt, so I'm even more pleased with a clean sheet and valuable point.

To be fair to those saying it's a good point away from home - maybe it was - however we were by far the better team, Kettering were really poor. So if we are to make a serious promotion bid we have to win games like that. I listened to a conversation saying we weren't ready to go up and what a big step it would be and how we are not ready etc. but if that's true what is the actual point of playing at all?
One other thought - I don't know if Niall wasn't fit today, but if so, why have him on the bench and not use him - given he is a form player?
Addendum- just read the post above - if they were all sick, decent point!!

I think one negative poster is hardly a ‘ meltdown’.
These days , anything mildly good is ‘ amazing’
Anything disappointing is ‘gut wrenching, devastating, blah blah’
Use of language seems to have become a lost art

Difficult place to go ,good point won,I am nearly almost the first to criticise the way we play, however I have only seen one team better than us,Kings Lynn, I we managed a draw, and could have won it,get behind the team,I think we are good enough to be in the play offs, then who knows, up the port

Re: Kettering Town 0-0 Southport - Match Thread
I went today and thought Liam's assessment that it was two honest teams having a good go was about right. Strangely, we were the better team in terms of corners, throws and territory but they had the best two chances. They were through on goal in the first half but fluffed their lines, then Tony Mac had to make a good save in the second half.
Normally I (and others) can criticise the 'find the spaces' percentage football but on that pitch you could do nothing else. You can't pass on that cabbage field. It was cut up, uneven, an absolute shitshow. I have nothing against Kettering, but they belong in a lower level because that is not even a NLN set up they have there.
It's a shame we couldn't find a way to win, but it's a yardstick of where we are. We have a good group of players who fought and scrapped best they could, but we lacked that special ingredient or spark to nick it. J Doyle and Hmami put in a host of good deliveries but we never had anyone to make that run and meet that ball to head home and take the points. I felt we were one poacher off a win today. The likes of Daly, Gray, Carver would have bundled one home off their shin.
Unfortunately what would be a decent point reads like a loss because other results went against us today.
All in all, food for thought. Positives are we have a team of committed, hard working players who dug deep at a hard place to get a result. Concerns are Kettering are rubbish, but our very limited forward options of Archer and Heath meant we didn't have enough guile to earn the win. We are a striker off a good team, but we already knew that.

Would have took a point beforehand always a tough away fixture . Listened to their commentary which to be fair was preety good sounded like we lacked cutting edge in final 3rd . Big game Saturday and next Tuesday . ( county Cup Wednesday doesn't interest me until we get to the final )
