Would hope that Liam does something about the space they are finding on the left side of our defence.

Guess which side the cross came from for their goal.... It is obvious that it was coming.

Another disappointing result.
Could be worse I suppose but not what we were looking for.

We have no strike force so will not win many games. Just get used to it.

Tale of two halves.
Munro and Bainbridge ran the show in the first half.
Second half, the midfield went missing, we couldn't cope with their pace and Jack Doyle had a mare.

Niall took his goal well, but was dire other than that. Connor Woods was excellent.

I bet Liam will come out with some garbage about the two chances at the end to Connor Heath, but quite frankly we were lucky to get a point.
We are becoming the draw specialists

Points a point away, but I would sooner have what we where doing win two and lose one much better than draws.

For the first 30 mins or so we were by far the better team. The midfield three were in control, and we utilised both flanks well with Quansah and Doyle pushing forward to support the attack. We put a good number of decent crosses into the box, with one eventually falling at Watson's feet which he stroked home into the bottom corner. Curzon had hit the bar early on against the run of play, and for most of the first half only looked a threat from set pieces. Towards the end of the half they started getting into the game more, and in hindsight it was a warning sign.

Second half they battered us. We had a bright 5 minute period at the start of the half, then the ball barely made it's way into their half of the pitch until towards the end of the game. Curzon used their experience to dominate in midfield, with ours looking like lost little boys in a supermarket. Hoofs up field to Archer were easily defended by their centre backs, and they used their full-backs well in terms of controlling possession and building attacks. The inevitable equaliser came when one of their forwards attempted a bicycle kick, was hard to tell what happened from the far end of the pitch but it wasn't a clean connection and he may have even kicked it off himself before it ended up in the net. We had a couple of half chances late on, with Heath having one shot deflected wide and then just failing to make connection with a Woods cross, but it would have been unjust had we scored at that point.

The attendance was announced as 415 (I think), and half of that were our fans. It's an awful place for our festive away fixture though, a friendly club but a completely flat atmosphere and a team we have no real rivalry with. After seeing every game we've played there I would seriously consider not going if we end up there again next Christmas.

First - it was a better game than last year, which was possibly the worst game of football that I've endured.
Second - we bossed most of the first half and should have been further ahead at the break.
Third - we were dire 2nd half. Really poor - and we looked less fit than them.
Finally - we have 3 players currently who could cope in the National League proper - Anson, Bainbridge and Quansah. We then have maybe 4 /5 others who are decent players at this level - I'd include Woods and Evans in that. The rest are already playing a league or two above their comfort zone.
I'd love us to make the playoffs, but if we managed by some fluke to go up we'd need a total rebuild - maybe something like 10 in, 10 out.

No bright words from Liam at the end of another frustrating year. We won a cup. Are we making progress? No.
This current squad hasn’t developed as was hoped. No better now than two years ago. Two years older but still nowhere near the level we need.

We couldn’t afford to be promoted anyway , far to many away games in the south, too much travelling and too few away supporters coming to us.

There are quite a few northern or mids NL teams with substantial away followings. Wrexham Chesterfield Notts County York.
A Christmas game against Oldham would bring a few in.
Mind you they might be joining us in NLN anyway

Summed up perfectly by Paulisi and some others. Played well first half, awful second half! Draws are not good enough I'm afraid. It is very depressing to see that we have not progressed anywhere for a long time now and there seems no prospect of doing so.We 'strengthened the squad' by signing a 17/18 year old who has made 3 sub appearances for AFC Liverpool! Another player is leaving in January! Somebody will now tell me that we are lucky that we still have a club in the current financial climate, but others survive and progress. I've said before that Liam is Southport right through, but he doesn't fill me with any confidence! He might have been tongue in cheek when he said 'we won a cup' in response to being asked how had the year gone, but that about sums us up. We were by far the strongest team in that competition by virtue of league status. If the Board only look locally for sponsorship they need to look further afield, use any contacts they have at home and abroad and find a proper sponsor. I know this is easier said than done and they will say that they are pulling out all the stops already, but if we carry on like this there is sadly only one way we are going. There has to be somebody somewhere who is prepared to put some money in to the club. Can somebody please go out and find him?
