There were at least 2 more of us sat in the main stand. So we made double figures.

Disappointed with the result again but am enjoying the way we play. We dominated the opening 30 minutes, created multiple chances but failed to score. Josh Hmami seemed to be everywhere, causing Blyth no end of trouble and playing some delightful balls through the centre and out to the wings. It was very harsh to go in behind but that's what happens when we don't put the ball in the net.

The team looked jaded in the 2nd half. They were second to every ball and struggled to gain any meaningful pocession. They looked like a team making a 4+ hour mid week journey after work. The substitutions made a difference and we raised the tempo for the last 20 minutes. Again, we created some chances but couldn't finish. The offside decision on our 2nd goal was a complete joke. Miles was a good 5 yards onside when the ball was played across and was denied a first goal.

Lots of positives with a good side to watch. Great effort and commitment from all. The results will surely come. Looking forward to Darlington next week, hopefully fresh off the back of a better result at Telford.

Echo what others have said, it was an unbelievable effort against a side sitting second bottom of the league.

Highlights now available: https://southportfc.net/highlights-from-blyth-away/

Lost for words really. Disasterclass from the officials - saying that the game should've been out of sight, should be more clinical.

Two disallowed goals that were onside, and pretty much a stonewall penalty turned down.
Got to feel for the lads, and the fans that travelled. Tough cards to be dealt. Again.

Can't see where Miles is for the second but the first is onside.

How isn't that a penalty when the keeper clattered Archer??

Comical finishing, just needs the Benny Hill theme over it.

He's behind their defender when the ball is halfway to him, so I'll hazard a guess he was well onside...

I am sure we will take our protestations to the league and get the obligatory apology letter. Honestly, it would be the fitness of the officials I would complain about more than them getting a call wrong.

The linesman in the first half who disallowed Niall's goal was the most out of shape official I have ever seen involved in a Southport game. He was nothing short of fat, with a hilariously round beer belly that makes some Sunday league referees look toned.

On occasion I watch some NWCFL matches and I raise a little smile at the pot bellied officials but you expect it at that level. Adds to the charm.

But if you can't keep yourself fit and are evidently overweight you shouldn't be anywhere near the National League.

There’s not enough officials in the lower reaches of the game which brings the standard down towards the top. This is a problem for the FA but who would want to get involved with the abuse officials get in this country. I wouldn’t.

Just seen the highlights. Same as Fylde - we created enough chances and we are not clinical enough in front of goal.

Don’t normally comment on games I’ve not attended but having watched those highlights…

Both of our ‘goals’ weren’t even close to being offside

We’ve missed out on a stonewall penalty where the goalkeeper wipes out Archer. And have another good shout when Doyle is flattened in the box

Our finishing, from decent goal scoring positions is woeful

Our defending for the Blythe goal is awful

The players give everything to score goals ,to have one written off as offside is a mistake, it happens, to have two is unacceptable at this level, and the club should say so

True, though we’ve legitimately scored twice there.

Might sound harsh but if the officiating is poor you’ve got to score the chances you do create. Josh Miles goal looked 50:50 to me and the kick/his position never appeared on screen at the same time. There’s good chances missed and their goal comes from a regulation long ball that results in a 2v1 in the centre of our box. Sort those things out and there's no mention of the officials. It’s easy to feel hard done by, it happens to every team, play through it, it’s not the only reason we’re losing matches.

Has anyone else come to the conclusion that we need a Striker?

Not replacing Carver sunk last season and still not replacing him is sinking this season. The only time we have looked like replacing him is when we brought him back.

We can't remain addicted to one player and have to move on, and athough top forwards are hardly everyhwere it's baffling we've not got someone over the line. Hopefully now we have freed up a chunk of the budget on Cam's wages we have some more spending power.

So frustrating we are going to finish 9th - 12th yet again, for the same reasons.

Also makes me realise how spoiled we were with our options in this league previously. Always had some combination of Gray, Daly, Kilheeney, Robinson, Simm, Leadbetter, Fearns. We spent most of those seasons with three (sometimes four) strikers all capable of scoring 20+ per season. It's no surprise we were near the top all the time.

Imagine this team with three forwards of that calibre, we'd have been up by Christmas.

I was in the stand, level with where the pass was played from. Josh was 5 yards onside.
