Projections for next season
Relegation from Step 1
Maidstone, Scunthorpe, Yeovil and Torquay/Maidenhead/York (most likely Torquay)
Promotion from Step 3
Champions: South Shields, Bishop's Stortford, Tamworth and Weston-super-Mare
Play offs (one from each league):
Warrington, Bamber Bridge, Gainsborough and Matlock
Hornchurch, Canvey Island, Aveley and Cray
Coalville, Leiston, Nuneaton and Rushall
Bracknell, Truro, Poole and Chesham
Looks like we will gain one from the NLS (Oxford City most likely unless they go up, but could be Braintree, St Albans or Hemel Hempstead - or possibly Bishop's Stortford as the promoted side from the Isthmian Premier) with 3/4 of the relegated sides being very Southern. South Shields and Tamworth we definetly welcome to the NLN and the play off winners from the NPL and SPC.

Re: Projections for next season
South Shields are in the process of hiring a new manager after Kevin Phillips retired. Their statement suggests going for a more 'sustainable model', whether that means they won't throw as much money at it as previous years remains to be seen.
Warrington/Gainsborough have been two of the standouts from NPL. Warrington look solid from back to front with their experience and quality from divisions above - would only need a tweak of a few additions to be a force in NLN.

Re: Projections for next season
Warrington have a terrible record in the playoffs
Re: Projections for next season
In the past, yes but there’s no reason as the 2nd placed team and a good home record they can’t win them this season. Matlock at home on Tuesday then the winners of the other tie between Bamber Bridge & Gainsborough* in the Final
*They did lose at home to Gainsborough earlier in the season though!

Would quite like another NW game, shame Hyde blobbed it really. Bamber Bridge would be alright.

I can tell you that both Chippenham Town and Oxford City are prime candidates for NLN and both clubs are aware of that fact.PortInTheSouth wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 8:49 pm Relegation from Step 1

Currently bumming Matlock 4-0. Connor with the fourth - is there any chance he won't score a hat-trick for them at Haig Ave next season?

Re: Projections for next season
NPL play off final of Warrington vs Bamber Bridge after a 4-1 and penalty win respectively
The play off semi finals in the Southern Prem Central take place tomorrow as Coalville play Rushall and Leiston play Nuneaton

Re: Projections for next season
Yes, there’s a chance. Got the ball to feet often, was trusted to make his own decisions and a clinical finish for the fourth. He has support from midfield and a striker who wins most balls up front to play off. I was chuffed to congratulate Connor tonight because he’s a great lad whose talent was overlooked at Haig Avenue. He’s enjoying his football in a team that knocks it about with players who are allowed to improvise and they had the match won by half time.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 8:28 pmCurrently bumming Matlock 4-0. Re: Projections for next season
Sounds rubbish. Get it in the right areas and try and win throw-ins.
With Brig getting through despite Nathan Pond's sending-off (Codshite bastard, he must be about 84) at least we are getting one more local game next year.

Only Nuneaton out of them is actually a real place with a station.PortInTheSouth wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:29 pm

It was rubbish. They got it in the wrong areas (to feet) and overpowered Matlock by working the ball into scoring areas and finishing clinically. What good is that? Where’s the strife? Where’s the bundle ball we get at Haig Avenue?Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:35 pm Sounds rubbish. Get it in the right areas and try and win throw-ins.

The others involve a bus from Leicester, a bus from Walsall and a train on a line between Ipswich and Lowestoft

Re: Projections for next season
Mr kyle and Mr watson at bamber bridge tonight , probably seeing what a manager who believes in playing the game on the floor and tactically astute can do with little budget.
Jamie Milligan's football style must be completely alien to Watson , shame he would be great at Haig Ave

Re: Projections for next season
The dream of an Ipswich midweek trip are over, Leiston are out of the play-offs as are Coalville.
Nuneaton v Rushall Olympic final.
Rushall play on a plastic pitch, we already have a fair few of those and Tamworth have one from next season. Therefore would choose Nuneaton.

Torquay relegated into the National League South (West), where Dover stayed up as both they and Dulwich lost, but Dover had a better goal difference of -26 vs -28
