If you have a Virgin mobile phone, it won't work unless you can connect to wifi.

How is a British Crown Dependency in the British Isles foreign?
It's British but for a technicality, let's be honest.9
It’s an independent country that shares our monarch (and lots more besides). It’s in what we call the British Isles (the Irish don’t!). I’m not sure that it was ever in the EU - some issues over financial regulation were a sticking point. One could say more! A lot of South Africans live there as apart from the tax advantages there are historic links via the mining industry. The geology is similar, I was told.
How can a dependency be independent?
It's a self governing British crown dependency.
It is not an independent country.

"The Isle of Man is an internally self-governing dependency of the British Crown and its people are British citizens.

The Crown has ultimate responsibility for the good government of the Island and acts on the advice of Ministers of the UK Government, in their capacity as Privy Councillors"
We are the nutters, we come from the sea.
We must be nutters to watch SFC.

Someone has told them a lie😜😜
Southport finished the last season in 11th place in the sixth tier of the English football pyramid, three rungs above the North West Counties Premier Division Paul Jones's islanders played in last term.

The Manx club have said ticket details will be announced soon.

It’s an interesting situation and can be difficult to grasp. One might argue that it’s a fudge to enable the ‘unusual’ financial arrangements to continue. However, I do visit ‘The Island’ from time to time and I can assure you that native Manxmen would fiercely argue their independence.
They have their own government, currency, laws and more and issue their own passports. They owe allegiance to the Crown (and of course the Monarch’s Privy Councillors) but not to the U.K. Government or Parliament in Westminster. They have their own Parliament. They do not pay tax to the U.K. They have never been part of the U.K. or EU. As a tiny entity, they rely on the U.K. for defence and international relations, for which they pay.
If they wanted to (it’s hard to imagine that they ever would) they could legally chose to go it totally alone, but anyway they don’t have the resources. So, they continue to maintain independence while having close relationships with many U.K. agencies - eg while they have their own NHS, they have strong links with Merseyside NHS.

Getting the ferry from the Mersey and staying over a few nights

It’ll be good to have a ‘port watching weekend that isn’t ruined by the football

We survived by 11 goals rather than finished 11th but there you go! Someone tell them we won the last 8 consecutive matches!

Yep I'm flying over.
Going to take advantage of us playing there as I've never been to the island before and go for a few days.
Really looking forward to the match, steam train, electric train and tourist spots.

If you over for 3 or 5 days, it's worth getting a Go Explore card from the airport - gives you all the transport for your required days and all goes on one card that scans on ticket readers.

You can even pay cash for that....

Yes thanks I'd spotted the GoExplore card, in fact they have a heritage card for £69 for 5 days that gives you all the transport plus access to historic sites on the island. Happy days. Tried to buy it online but not working so I'll just buy it at the airport 👍

They were very friendly and helpful at the airport - plus they give you leaflets and timetable info should you require
