Ticket prices

Post by Ralphy Rylance »

https://southportfc.net/2023-24-season- ... zen-again/
Prices frozen
But:
All games will be all ticket, no cash turnstiles, and if you buy a ticket on the day of the game It'll cost you £2.50 more.
If you're under 17 you cant go without an adult - though it's not clear if this applies to under 17s who buy a season ticket.
Membership scheme scrapped but you can pay for season tickets in 10 monthly instalments though it will cost more than paying upfront.
5 or 10 game flexi tickets available

I think this is going to put off a lot of people who make their decision to go on the day.

Become more common for tickets to be more expensive on the day, seems to be the case at many clubs.

I worry about how it will affect already dire midweek gates because those are often the matches where people don't know if they can attend in advance, it depends how work goes or many other factors.

Saturdays probably less impacted.

I feel sorry for the normal young people affected by the ban on unsupervised teenagers. When I was under 17 I used to frequently go on my own or with mates in the same year. If this policy had been in place then, I doubt I would be a supporter today.

The actions of a small group of morons is continuing to affect the vast majority of younger, well behaved fans. I hope the culprets feel guilty and never show their faces anywhere near Haig Ave again.

You'd think it ought to be easy enough to identify the culprits and ban them rather than discouraging an entire generation and tarring them all with the same brush. May as well go back to having volunteer stewards if a succession of paid security have proved incapable of controlling a few unruly children.

The existing stewards are not fit for purpose, they see blood as a badge of honour and don't have the guile or know how to nip trouble in the bud before it starts.

Big fan of the flexi ticket - useful as an exile just being able to get a small discount for the games I will attend
As I said, it is what it is. And what it is is a southern softie wind up merchant

Yes, for those who pick and choose games they're a great deal and help avoid the £2.50 surcharge for on the day decisions.

I wasn't going to renew my season ticket as the football last season really was that bad, but putting Blue Light Card holders in with concessions has given me something to think about.

Maybe the 10 game flexi ticket could have some of the season ticket benefits? Might make it more tempting an offer.

These new tickets appear to be better for loyal fans but worse for the odd drifter, which isn't really what we should've gone for in my opinion.

The flexi-tickets probably won't have many takers but for the people it helps it's a fantastic idea and a good way for if someone, say, started watching mid-way through the season and became hooked (for whatever reason) it could work like a perennial half-season ticket.

I have made my opinion known regarding the blanket ban on all unaccompanied under 17s and I don't think if we had competent stewards that the measure would have been taken. It remains to be seen whether this applies to season tickets, though surely it won't. If I'd have been just over a year younger, since my grandad passed in January, I wouldn't have an adult to come with me to probably about half of the home games. There has to be a better way of dealing with the problem, and we should start by addressing the terrible stewarding. Blackpool at home will be fun.

This announcement, though, is largely positive for the loyal, over 18 fans of the Club but really quite negative for the drifter and under 18s.

I think this is more than fair .i agree with RR 100% no price increases despite >10% inflation. Now can we get the new director on board and a striker for the new season?

I was always in two minds to renew my season ticket.
Not a fan of Liam's style and will hang fire for now..

However the flexi ticket may be more of interest.
I can go to 10 games and see how the season unfolds.

Although the cost is not an issue, I rarely do pre season and will probably miss 3-4 games for one reason or another, so 2 x 10 flexi tickets might be the option.
It is also cheaper than a season ticket...

Personally I'd have preferred a £1 increase on all match tickets rather than discouraging late decision makers with a £2.50 levy that will probably dissuade them from coming.
The flexi tickets are a great idea for people who are regular enough attendees but who can't justify a season ticket.
But for the casual attendee who isn't necessarily a fan, who may turn up on boxing day and 1 or 2 other games per season, they're probably going to decide that £16 and the hassle of buying a ticket isn't worth it.

This is excellent news from the Directors & a big pat on the back to them for freezing the season ticket prices, especially when a lot of clubs in our league are increasing prices massively for season tickets, especially Hereford & Blyth, almost £350, crazy!
Flexi ticket is a great idea too and I know a few who will definitely go for it
Let's get some high calibre players in now & increase ticket sales.🤞👍

Regulation is in the throws of being changed in this area but the way this is worded could potentially mean that you need to enter into a credit agreement.
Entering into a credit agreement is a very different thing from the previous membership scheme. Buying a monthly membership, which amongst other benefits just so happened to include entry to fixtures obviously got around this previously because you weren't buying the same thing (technically).
There is an exemption within the consumer credit act if less than 12 monthly instalments are made for a fixed priced item and if there are no charges for the facility. This is effectively called buy now pay later which has some draft legislation going through. In this case however, as you've pointed out, the instalment plan works out more expensive....so I don't think it can be considered BNPL.
If it IS a loan, and there's nothing wrong with that if that is the case, then assuming the club wouldn't ever be the credit provider, the advantage of an actual credit agreement for the club would be that they would get the money upfront still, and the consumer would instead be repaying the credit provider. That said, a credit agreement is basically an unsecured loan so would normally imply a credit check needing to be made and failure to make payments could damage your credit rating. Many clubs do offer finance to pay for a season ticket but it doesn't actually state this is the case, and normally if it was a loan it would say who the credit provider is and the details of applicable cooling off periods etc.

I really didn’t think it would get better than the Isle of Man thread.
