The game arguably produced the worst refereeing decision of all time. Haver were 1-0 up after ten mins when this happened:

After Dino only getting a yellow for that "tackle" (more ABH) against Rushden.

That’s as bad a decision as I’ve ever seen.

The potential idea of seeing Charlie Albinson in the Scottish Premiership blows my mind. He had perhaps 3 good games and about 20 absolute catastrophes in a 'Port shirt, I always thought he was fortunate to get a gig in the NPL after how poor he was for us. He's either got a lot better or Scottish football is even worse than I thought.

A bit of both. There is quite a drop below the Scots Championship, with players leaving Uni sides and walking into first team football in the bottom rungs.

It would appear that dropping down a few levels has been a good career move.😉

David Raya selected for Spain to play in Qatar, have we had many other former players play at a World Cup?

I’ve posted this before….Alan Ball played for our ‘A’ team as a youth but was released, so the story goes, because of his stature.

I remember this well, but apparently it can’t be verified because the records were lost in the fire. Maybe another Portchatter can recall it too?

Peter Withe was in the 1982 England WC squad.

Stan Mortensen was in the 1950 squad.

On 25th June 1950, Mortensen scored in the World Cup against Chile. So a former Southport player has scored at a WC finals.

Although he wasn't a former Southport player when he did it and he didn't sign for Southport for another 7 years.

Withe I think played in a world cup qualifier, was in the squad for 82 but I don't think played.

If Raya plays I think he'll be the first to play for Port and THEN play in a world cup.

Craig King scored an injury time equaliser for Hemel Hemstead in their FA Trophy match at Kings Lynn yesterday. He then saved 2 penalties in the penalty shootout as Hemel progressed through

What a guy.
