Connor Woods

Gone on loan! Weird decision for me can’t help but wondering if there has been a falling out behind the scenes.

Think watson said in an interview after a game recently that some people arnt stepping up when needed and he could be one of them. With Niall coming in and scoring goals too he’s further down the pecking order, hopefully can get game time and build some confidence back up

Not surprised, he simply hasn't kicked on as a player and looks short of confidence. After breaking into the eleven he became our most exciting outlet and looked destined for the EFL. If anyone looked like the next natural talent on the conveyor belt to Accrington it was him.

For some reason his growth has stunted and he's been going backwards. I do have to question LW on this, Connor was great as a winger and his downturn started when he was moved out of position up front after Carver left. Liam tried to convert him to a striker, it didn't work, now his confidence is shot and he's on his way out.

Liam made reference to another player coming in, I would like to think so. We have finally got some decent numbers with players back fit, the last thing we want to do is end up short again. Two injuries against Gloucester and it's back to square one again.

I do hope Connor can rediscover his best form because there's a player in there somewhere.

As others have said Connor maybe should have kicked on by now but hasn’t. He’s too good on the ball to not be worth persevering with. Have a good month, come back and ask to play on the wing, Connor!A*

Apparently he is available for the FA Trophy for Warrington, so clearly not part of Liam's plans short term.

We assume that Tyler is fit for tomorrow otherwise its a daft decision.
Half expecting another announcement tonight with a new signing.

Played about 10 minutes the last two games, Walton and Watson are firmly first choice now, so makes sense he goes and gets some games whilst we aren't playing twice a week.

Would hope it means another body coming in but if it helps put some funds away for Carver that's fine by me

Good luck Connor hope you return with your form and confidence restored. I remember watching Harry Kane on loan play for Leicester several years ago so it’s not a stigma it’s an opportunity 👍

A lot of people reading too much into this- it’s just to give him some game time with Niall and Tyler in the starting xI.
Connor is still a big part of the team.

Yes, but…..in a squad that often doesn’t have enough fit players to fill the bench this is an odd move. How does the manager know Tyler & Niall will remain fit for this month?
Or won’t get sent off? Both perfectly possible but a fit player is sent out to get game time he should get at Haig Avenue - can Tyler & Niall each play 90 minutes every match, could Connor coming off the bench for 20 minutes change things or give another option? Feels as if the manager will not countenance any unhappiness of fit players not playing, ever!

I’m sure we’ll recall him if we need to, though I would quite like the option of having Connor on the bench. I assume LW has a plan though.

I don't think a player can be recalled in the first 28 days of a loan.

The move seems to make a mockery of us. I might have understood if we didn't have a small, injury prone squad. I might have understood it more if we didn't rearrange a fixture for next Saturday. Also, it looks like he's going to come back cup tied for the FA Trophy. It just makes little sense.

I agree it’s ridiculous to leave no forward options on the bench. It’s not just an eleven man game nowadays.

The last player loaned to Warrington (IBR) was never seen again.

As for this ,what is Watson thinking, we have a small squad, sod all on the bench to change a game, sometimes just sod all on the bench, let's send one of are best players out on loan,Watson has no idea what to do with a footballer, you know ,someone who has skill on the ball, ect,as for warrington they must think that Southport are the gift that keeps giving, no doubt another club that will surpass us in the next few years, no wonder the ground is empty, Watson out

Makes you wonder why he didn't wait until Monday to send Connor on loan when we were then left with no attacking options on the bench yesterday.

And so he wouldn't be cup tied for Warrington either. Seems extremely stange timing even if Connor needs more game time.
And on the 6th day, God created Jim Bentley.

Seems Warrington have been after him for some time [on their website].Hope it is only for one month they are semi pro and should have been in our league pre pandemic .They won the play offs then lost to Kings Lynn in a Super extra Play Off game but arent doing as well this season. When Connor got his 10 minutes off the bench he looked good running past tiring defenders on the wide right and cutting in. Hope he returns to give us another option.

Connor is a skilful player who has rarely been used in a position that plays to his strength.
And I like his acrobatic goal celebrations…
