Re: New Director

"He’s a good bloke. His intentions are right and he’s got a good heart but saying it and doing it are two different things."

Sounds very familiar.

Re: David Morgan

We are almost totally dependent on Ian, who is the only one with money. All in all, you would be crazy to invest in a football club right now! V grateful for steady-tiller approach of Ian Kyle given the mess that was left by previous regime(s). We're not flush with cash but thank God we're not spen...

Re: David Morgan

Really don't know what some supporters expect? We're short on cash, in a pandemic, the season might be cancelled - and a League One club come in with an extremely good fee that will help sustain the club. Again, we prove ourselves to up and coming players that we can help them into the league. And a...

More from Liam

Hope Rob won't mind but thought it worth reprising some of Liam's words in the Leamington programme... Very proud to have him as our manager. And nicely put by Sam Shrouder in his column on the club''s community work: "Why is this so crucial for all of us at Southport FC? Perhaps I forgot to me...

Re: FT: Guiseley 4 - 2 Southport

Many also seem to forget that Liam (and Ian and Steve) have had to deal with the clean up of the Phil Hodgkinson era - where money was thrown around like confetti and little regard was given to sustainability. I think Liam has brought our wage bill has come down by something like 70%? So we're tryin...

Would love to see Louis Almond back - currently at Ashton.
Think he would add an awful lot.

Re: FT: Guiseley 4 - 2 Southport

The manager deserves some slack given the tragic personal circumstances he (and Niall) are enduring.
I'd like to think we have a bit more compassion than to put a man out of a job.
Give it time, if anyone can sort it out, it's Liam.

Re: FT: Guiseley 4 - 2 Southport

We're in a poor run of form but let's give the manager the chance to sort it out. In this weird season, and all the uncertainly, I think there's a lot to be said for stability and togetherness. They are two things we have not had in any capacity when Liam Watson has not been in charge. Alan Wright?...

Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread

I’ve seen us play worse and win. So let’s not go completely overboard on a bad day at the office.
We didn’t deserve to concede four - and we matched Gateshead for large spells.
It’s just one of those freak scorelines. We deserved to lose but this toxic post mortem isn’t appropriate, IMO

Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread

4-0 flattering for Gateshead, who looked much fresher, but masters of our own downfall.

Sloppy pass from Challoner that led to first
Error from Hanford for second
Harsh penalty for fourth.

But created little and a day to forget. Shame.

EDIT:

4-1 - now a fair reflection!

Re: Bradford (Park Avenue) 0-2 Southport - Match Thread

Second yellow was harsh - thought Chally was waiting for Doyle to come across to take the throw. Which he does all the time, it’s not a timewasting tactic! Ref should have realised that

Against a team like York you're gonna need some luck, but Jesus, that second free kick should not have been given! The third was dubious, too!

I like that Blyth have a player lined up to do co-commentary.
Think that would be good to replicate at Haig Avenue during the season - would offer an extra insight.
