Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread

I’ve seen us play worse and win. So let’s not go completely overboard on a bad day at the office.
We didn’t deserve to concede four - and we matched Gateshead for large spells.
It’s just one of those freak scorelines. We deserved to lose but this toxic post mortem isn’t appropriate, IMO

Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread

4-0 flattering for Gateshead, who looked much fresher, but masters of our own downfall.

Sloppy pass from Challoner that led to first
Error from Hanford for second
Harsh penalty for fourth.

But created little and a day to forget. Shame.

EDIT:

4-1 - now a fair reflection!

Re: Bradford (Park Avenue) 0-2 Southport - Match Thread

Second yellow was harsh - thought Chally was waiting for Doyle to come across to take the throw. Which he does all the time, it’s not a timewasting tactic! Ref should have realised that

Why is George Newell not being selected when he’s our best striker??

Thanks

Re: Southport 2-3 York City - Match Thread

Against a team like York you're gonna need some luck, but Jesus, that second free kick should not have been given! The third was dubious, too!

Not sure I can handle these awful BBC York commentators either.
Think I prefer the static of the live stream!

Re: Blyth game

I like that Blyth have a player lined up to do co-commentary.
Think that would be good to replicate at Haig Avenue during the season - would offer an extra insight.

Categorically offside. Played well in spells - and agree with poster who said they appeared fitter

Re: Kettering v Southport

There's an argument that given the high number of games that will be postponed because of Covid, postponements should just be registered as 0-0 draws with the rearranged fixture scrapped.

Re: FT: Southport 2-1 Morpeth Match Thread

Thought the stream was great - Alan was brilliant and good insight from co-commentator. I mean for a first go, I couldn't really have asked for a better job. Well done to all involved - and well done to Port. We looked rusty against a team four competitive games into their season, but much improved ...

Re: So. What happens next?

The Government will provide a coronavirus bailout to the National League, in a move that will allow it to begin on Saturday and stop North and South division clubs withdrawing from the FA Cup. The Telegraph has been told that ministers have pledged to provide a rescue package to teams in the three d...

Re: So. What happens next?

I hope/suspect the most obvious answer is that the FA/National League reclassify National League North as non-elite sport.
It's frankly ludicrous we're lobbed in with PL/EFL.
Otherwise, it's cancel the season and hope the government supports the sector.
