Re: AFC Fylde Away

Does underline the importance of always being careful. Probably just his natural reaction at the time though. However If you want to see how ignorant and selfish some players can really be look up ‘St Blazey fc’ from Cornwall and their recent antics.... disgraceful and shameful. Agreed...I've seen ...

Re: AFC Fylde Away

Liam mentioned illness within the squad in the podcast. Seems strange that we were allowed to play yesterday. Hopefully the players/staff concerned are ok and they get a negative result. Presumably the illness referenced was definitively non-covid and this is separate issue. As you say I can't imag...

Re: Southport 1 - 1 Alfreton

The words 'two poor teams' were meant for today, although the lack of football ability on show was eclipsed only by the refereeing performance. No grip on the game, Alfreton were taking the mick out of him. No gripes there, they clocked it was a weak ref and played on it. The goalkeeper hitting the...

Re: Bobby Watson

Terribly sad news, particularly the timing of Liam and Niall being told. I have immense respect for the pair of them for taking part in the match under those circumstances.

Condolences to the Watson family. RIP Bobby.

Re: Southport 0 - 1 Farsley

I'm going to focus on the only positive thing I can right now. The setup, marshaling and overall management of fans was superb. A huge thank you to everyone involved...its was a joy to be stood in the rain watching football again.

As for the actual football... well...

Re: Fans at Sporting events. Up to 2000 in Tier 2

I still think it's unfair that we can have 2,000 fans in but Chorley down the road can't have any. But hey, life's unfair, I shan't be moaning if the league agrees to this. Not technically correct - it is min 2k, or 50% capacity or ground safety authority level for social distancing. I think we are...

3rd October 2020 v Morpeth.
Not that long at all then 😂

Do you know when it was in the league out of interest?

Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread

As Siddle says that was a flattering scoreline though it would be good to see the needless mistakes cut out of our game alongside a more clinical approach in front of goal...We had a couple of good chances in the first half that would have changed the match significantly. I can't remember the last t...

Re: Southport 0-1 Spennymoor - Match Thread

Oh. OK. That's a very persuasive argument. Apart from the fact opinions can't be wrong. I suspect what you meant to say was that you disagree so let's just leave at as that eh? Ok, ball to wall about 1 second. Onward travel time post wall is 2 to 3 seconds. If Hanford waits till he knows it is clea...

Re: Southport 0-1 Spennymoor - Match Thread

You've never played in goal have you. Hanford started were the ball ended up, but as the kick was taken started moving towards where the ball was going, by the time it had hit the wall, he was committed that way, he had to stop, change his direction and get the ball, it was always a big ask. If he ...

Re: Southport 0-2 Spennymoor - Match Thread

That was a tough watch..one of the worst halves I've seen us play for some time. The free kick shouldn't have been conceded and deflection or not Hanford should have had that side of the goal covered. We're second best in every area but defence is particularly erratic. There needs to be one hell of ...

Re: Southport v Spennymoor Live Stream Details

I'll echo BackoftheNet's comment... Mine didn't work initially due to a difference in case used somewhere in my email address. Messaged James and he'd fixed it within 5 minutes. As always great response from James. I had no expectation of a resolution on a Friday evening and was quite prepared to wa...

Re: Southport 2-3 York City - Match Thread

I don't think we played badly by any means and the second goal, particularly, came from a very dubious free kick. That said we should be able to defend set pieces better and so there's little complaint about the result. My concern is that we're 7 matches in and, Blyth aside, we struggle to build upo...

Re: Blyth Spartans 0-3 Southport - Match Thread

I wasn't able to watch the game but I did keep track on the score updates. At 1 nil I was getting a little concerned that we werent converting the chances we had. What was really encouraging was the fact we pushed on after the 2 subs came on and it seemed to change the game in our favour, allowing u...

Re: Southport 1-0 Chorley - Match Thread

Top class commentary Nic and Rob. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to you both. As for the game... Great to get the win and a clean sheet. A narrower margin and tighter finish than I would have preferred but it was good to see us close the game out relatively confidently. A good result against a much be...

Re: Southport v Chorley

I'm expecting a tough game today. Chorley will have a point to prove after losing their first games and they clearly have the ability to win having dispatched York in the cup. Hopefully we start strong, as with the South Shields match, but convert a couple of chances. If we can apply early pressure ...

Re: Southport 1-1 South Shields - Match Thread

We should have finished that game in the first half noting the number of chances we had. South Shields controlled the second half and had the momentum going into the penalties. Shields keeper pulled off 2 good saves, though they weren't particularly well hit shots. Again.. We should be doing better....
