Re: Southport 1-0 Chorley - Match Thread

Top class commentary Nic and Rob. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to you both. As for the game... Great to get the win and a clean sheet. A narrower margin and tighter finish than I would have preferred but it was good to see us close the game out relatively confidently. A good result against a much be...

Re: Southport v Chorley

I'm expecting a tough game today. Chorley will have a point to prove after losing their first games and they clearly have the ability to win having dispatched York in the cup. Hopefully we start strong, as with the South Shields match, but convert a couple of chances. If we can apply early pressure ...

Re: Southport 1-1 South Shields - Match Thread

We should have finished that game in the first half noting the number of chances we had. South Shields controlled the second half and had the momentum going into the penalties. Shields keeper pulled off 2 good saves, though they weren't particularly well hit shots. Again.. We should be doing better....

Re: Southport V Hereford - Match Thread

As is the unwritten law of forum posting, as soon as I posted my earlier message the stream immediately improved so I too was able to watch the last 20 mins without issue. It's early days though and I suspect the demand for this match is much greater than Morpeth on Sat. I do wonder how many Herefor...

Re: Southport V Hereford - Match Thread

Yep... Same here. Unwatchable on all devices due to stuttering and buffering. Suspect it's a server side bandwidth issue so hopefully something that can get resolved.

Re: Trialist signed

Great to see this news... We've got a decent squad built up. All the Covid stuff aside it will be great to see this season get underway.

Agreed... But sadly I stopped being surprised at the sort of things other people do a long time ago so I will be amazed if some don't ask for a refund

Re: Update from James Tedford 24/09/20

I think this can best be described as Sobering https://southportfc.net/update-james-tedford-2/ Indeed. As ever it was a clear and honest summary of the situation. The offer of free streaming of matches - whilst not what anyone really wants - is particularly welcome. For me that's more than enough t...

Re: Virus

I don’t think it’s clear that they should have no spectators....as I read it they’ve ‘advised against attending’. My personal view on that is that it is with the individual to make a decision and spectators are not banned. It is also that we all have a responsibility, if making a decision to attend...

Re: Virus

Unless attending sporting events is actually banned I intend to be at the home fixtures. If we are allowed to sit in a pub or restaurant then I don’t see how sitting or standing (socially distanced) outside in the fresh air watching a football match can be worse than going to a pub or restaurant. I...

Re: Virus

Tightening of rules is possible but there's some good news in that The National League now have permission to run trials including spectators this week, which leads the way for a clear plan for a safe return for spectators. Local lockdowns will be a possibility for some time, but hopefully these wil...

Re: Membership

I agree with Paulisi on this. At the end of last season I happily didn’t ask for any refund or expect one as I’d already spent the money and want to help the club survive. I didn’t expect or ask for any acknowledgement of that and none of us got one. I can however see why some may have asked...ie t...

Re: Membership

The difference is that the leagues below have guarantees that spectators can go in having had trials. Our league has not even had a trial. But they have had FA representation to review the proposed steps taken to safeguard fans (I. E. The Blackpool match). I honestly don't know the protocol regardi...

Re: Membership

As I said I disagree entirely. You aren't buying a TV. You're supporting your local club. Applying expectations such as guarantees to a season ticket purchase in such unusual times is ridiculous and leaning on the old 'point of principle' argument generally just means there's no stronger justificati...

Re: Membership

There is no benefit in getting a season ticket/membership until we know that crowds will be allowed back and in what quantities. The question that needs to be asked is: Will the club provide a refund if some games are forced behind closed doors or the season finishes prematurely? Does that need to ...
