Re: Halifax FA Trophy

You need to bring more to the table than sell on a decent player every Preston guild. Of course everyone is entitled to an opinion but we should at least stick to the truth. Baker, Noone, Fearns, Duffy, Ledsham, Aley, Owens, Kissock, Parry, Whalley, Phenix, Charles, Green... I’m no doubt missing on...

Re: Halifax FA Trophy

We just need a modern day motivated and keen manager not a wheeler dealer character like Boycee out of only fools and horses. Flash Sales alone are a very small part of the equation and lots of other CN clubs seem to be able to do this and have a decent motivated on field management team. You need t...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Cameron Antwi sub for Blackpool , know his loan period was up on the 17th, hoped it might have been extended. We appear to be in the minority of clubs in our league seemingly not bolstering the squad even with perhaps a couple of loanees .

Re: Halifax FA Trophy

Tuesday’s re arranged game must be in doubt as well, maybe Halifax will agree to switch this one, if not we both get turfed out the tournament🤔 . They should be thrown out not us if they won’t switch the game when their pitch is unplayable.

Re: Halifax FA Trophy

I'm sure this game will be off. What a profoundly depressing interview with Liam. Just admits we haven't a hope of getting promoted, that the emphasis is simply on blooding young (actually not so young - 22 year olds are not young footballers) players and selling them on. This is apparently realism...

Not the Gary Roberts who played for Southport...
Quite right my mistake a different Gary Roberts , this one being ex Bala and 36 years of age , nowt like adding a bit of experience to a squad eh 😀

Dion’s foraging and chasing back creates the opening for Accrington’s second at Charlton who now lead 2-0. Boy do we miss a talisman like him.

I just wish this history would repeat itself in some small way for all the current and long suffering Port supporters - one day perhaps 🙏

TrickyDicky wrote: Tue Jan 05, 2021 7:31 pm Well since it’s carry on football , how about getting (the ghost of ) Charles Hawtrey to take training and talk tactics for the Darlington game, a vitally important one from which we need to take at least a point so as not to be cast into a major role of carry on downwards 😳

Re: Favourite kits

We wore all red away to Hull in 1966- not a colour I like . I grew up watching them in black and “gold”. I never liked the move to the same all coloured kit or the move to blue and yellow. I think “gold” and black and the shade of amber ? we play now is fine, although I would like to see us in the o...

Re: Curzon Away - 2nd Jan

I’m no doctor either but there doesn’t seem to be much evidence that playing in the open air, with face to face contact limited to a few seconds at a time, poses a huge risk, particularly when players are tested regularly. There have been remarkably few cases amongst professional footballers. Boris...

Re: Match Thread - Southport V Curzon Ashton

Why 'undoubtedly'? The current run of 5 league games without a win won't become 33 games without a win. The last 3 league and cup games show signs of improvement. Even if we don't improve our overall form of 16 points from 14 games becomes 48 from 42 at the end of the season. Easily enough to stay ...

Re: Match Thread - Southport V Curzon Ashton

Okay you’re right let’s stick with a failing manager partnership and look forward to playing Bamber bridge next season Doh, we can’t afford not to replace them the way things are going with due respect of course. From what I’ve seen I’d replace McCarthy with a ventriloquists dummy

Re: Match Thread - Southport V Curzon Ashton

You’ve listed managers who were sacked prematurely and their teams consequently achieved nothing as a result. Can you give us a number of examples of how getting rid of a long serving and previously successful manager has worked really well? I’m sure there are some, although a fraction of the numbe...

Re: Match Thread - Southport V Curzon Ashton

My moan is not with fellow supporters and portchatters ( we need them all more than ever) ; we can simply agree to disagree whatever, it’s certainly not with the people running the club off field who are doing an excellent job and it’s not with previous managers who have come and gone and are now et...

Ste we’ve played about 15 games more , you’re right about the season because safety is all I’m bothered about right now
