Curzon Ashton sack their manager

Steve Cunningham has been sacked at Curzon despite a terrific start and on the back of a couple of defeats one of which was to high flying Chesterfield in the Cup.

You can only imagine there was something else behind the decision. Results were decent...

Re: Southport 2-3 Altrincham - CUP FEVER - Match Thread

The balance of the side is not quite right, but that's partly due to a small squad and injuries. Not a big fan of Russ Benjamin, but we need a second holding midfielder. Dylan and Josh H play too far up the pitch and Charlie M is a playmaker who cannot play the holding role. Still short of a left si...

Despite a sub appearance for NI during the week, no sign of Dion Charles appearing in the Accy squad.

Went to form. We gave it a good go, but still conceding too many.

Re: Southport v Altrincham Predictions

I think we are a decent cup side and will give it a real good go. We have goals in us, just the back line who rarely get a clean sheet. Alty are well supported this season, several gates over 2k, but they have generally only brought 200-300 in the past. Expect 1300 gate and plenty of noise from the JC

Interesting - Liam doesn't do much of the coaching. I suspect we will bring someone in on the cheap.

Re: York 0-1 Hereford

Totally false position. We have a team who play good football and have great spirit, we have come back on several occasions.

I'm fairly confident we will be top half of the table unless we have a huge amount of injuries or suspensions.

Re: Future football league players?

I think we have at present at least 4 with maybe more to come-not that I'm advocating this- but as a club we have to be realistic. Cameron Mason is nailed on IMHO,right age mid twenties especially as players in his position can play until their late thirties and beyond sometimes. He's worth 100k of ...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Dion still not part of the squad at Accy.
Steven Tames scored Prescot's winner. Dean Winnard was watching, presumably injured, as Marine beat Rylands.

Future football league players?

It's no secret that Liam has been bringing in young players with the aim of developing them and moving the better ones on for a decent transfer fee into the football league. Liam has a track record for this with the likes of Dion and Devarn recently. Who do you think within this squad has what it ta...

Am I correct in saying that Marcus Carver has scored in every game this season where he has started?

Re: Southport 1-0 Chorley - FA Cup - Match Thread

Great win and some much needed prize money and gate receipts.
First clean sheet of the season and we kept them to 2 chances, both of which hit the woodwork.
Chris Doyle was immense, Vassallo and Bainbridge were outstanding in midfield, but everyone played well and put in a shift.

Re: Chorley 2-2 Southport - FA Cup - Match Thread

Enjoyable match. Not at the races for the first 15 mins. Started with a four, but very quickly went to a back 5. Soft goals to concede. A long ball and a silly back pass. The last 30 mins of the first half was even and Connor missed a sitter. Second half was all Southport. We looked fitter and won l...

Re: Brackley Town 1-0 Southport - Match Thread

I cannot comment on the match, but I assume Anson is injured and Woods and Carver are not fully fit, so just Munro fully fit on the bench. Why have we not brought in loan players? I know we have had a tough start, but no clean sheet yet and more tough games coming up. What happens if we don't beat t...

Re: Southport 3 - 3 Gateshead - Match Thread

Just listened to Liam's podcast.
Connor Woods has shin splints, so he will be out for a few weeks.

He mentioned a few things on the commercial side, but nothing at all publicised by the club - new shirt sponsor, pure sponsor etc
What went on at Fylde? Were they still holding a grudge?

Re: Southport 3 - 3 Gateshead - Match Thread

We had 3 or 4 chances and scored 3. They had tons of chances and only scored 3. We sat back, let them play to feet and they totally outplayed us. Our midfield couldn't get anywhere near the ball and it was wave after wave of attack and the keeper and some wayward finishing kept us in the game. We ha...
