Re: Possible transfer targets for next season etc...

I think Niall will retire.

He’s 35, and second half of this past season, he was only playing every other game. I think his time on the pitch was being carefully managed.

He’s been a fabulous player and inspirational captain for us.

Get rid of Offsides. Would make play much more open.

Re: Which teams will get promoted out of our league?

Marine were limited to 2,150 for the visits of Wrexham and Bootle this season. I must admit that I thought the capacity was 3,000 and that it was limited to the lower figure for ‘Covid’ reasons. Scarborough, today’s play off winners has a capacity of 2,833. Of the other teams in the play-offs, Matlo...

Re: Which teams will get promoted out of our league?

If Neil can recreate what he did at Chester, hopefully we’ll be playing Southport in NLN on Boxing Day, 2023.

Unless, of course, Liam is able to secure promotion for SFC next season.

Re: Farsley Celtic 2-0 Southport - Match Thread

I am no expert on the NLN, nor indeed on the NPL, nor am I an expert on Southport FC. I do have a passing interest in Southport, from days some 30 years ago when we were both in the same league. Non league football is a different game from those days. I can see it in the NPL West Division, where eve...

Re: Southport 1-1 Leamington - Match Thread

Bootle now play in the NPL West Division, not the North West Counties League, and until recently were in contention for a play-off place.

Re: Marine / FAO Ancient Mariner

Sorry, only just come to the party. Marine legend Barry Lenton eloquently answers the original question posed. All I would add is that we have a great manager in Neil Young, and together with the initiatives on and off the pitch, Marine are a different club to a few years ago. The update from our Ch...

Re: George Newell

We’d love to be back in the NPL Premier, but there’s a long way to go. There’s some good teams in our Division. We were totally outplayed in the first half last night, something which Warrington, Atherton , South Shields and Wrexham never managed. Just hope the second half of the league season is as...

Good luck to Josh. Best free kick taker I’ve seen for many a year.

Can’t recollect having seen Myers play for Marine.

Re: Match Thread Halifax Town v Southport - FA Trophy

Funny game football, isn’t it?

You struggled against us, and now you’re almost at Wembley. A but like us when we were losing to Barnoldswick and ended up with Spurs.

I hope you get to play the next round, though I somehow doubt it.

Decent game. End to end.

Nothing in it, one scrappy goal settled it.

Re: FA Trophy draw

Two of our forwards went off injured today, and our on loan forward from Salford has returned to Salford.

Suspect we may struggle up front!
