50 Years ago today..21st November 1970

Checking the football diary-I can't believe this stat as my first experience of an FA Cup upset as a 14 year old happened so long ago-seems like yesterday....! NLP side Boston Utd turned up and deservedly beat the Port 2.0.This wasn't supposed to happen! Jim Smith later on to become Manager at Oxfor...

Re: Bradford (Park Avenue) 0-2 Southport - Match Thread

Port chat changed? I don't think so... We might have gained all the "new" Portchatters with post lockdown new pseudonym's but the opinions and stereotyped comments don't change-so what"s different? We've seen regular posters on here pack up-hopefully temporarily as we need the full an...

Re: Bradford P.A.

Yet another football club trying to catapult themselves into the EFL ala Harrogate and Maidstone (recently National Lge) via the plastic route. It needs stopping, and I can't believe their isn't more protest and resistance to it from other clubs. Football is a grass pitch sport.

Re: The Table

There are so many questions about this season that fans are asking but not many answers. As someone on here said, would clubs at this level really have agreed to start this season if they'd known no supporters would be allowed all season? I don't think so...but here we are.Thankfully funding agreed f...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

You're well aware Bobby that in your original comment regarding used players that you were referring to the 2016/17 season...I have never suggested fake news from our current owners-and you know that...I rest my case..

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

There are a lot of questions regarding the involvement of the junior production managers in that debacle of a season. if you keep putting the same production on year in year out without investment to improve it, eventually it will fail-no matter. You do wonder at what point does a mantra of “living...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

You are wrong, it was 275. However, to call some of them players is a very loose interpretation of the word. They were all players in a big pantomime though. The pantomime production manager always carries the can for poor performances, and presided over years of mediocrity due to a lack of ambitio...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Ben McKenna and Frank Mulhern play in a convincing 2-0 victory v Southport. Ken McBenna was one of the least bad of the 274 players we used during that shambolic, disgraceful mess of a relegation season. You are wrong, it was 275. However, to call some of them players is a very loose interpretation...

Re: Southport 0-2 Spennymoor - Match Thread

I used to argue regularly with pals that you were better off battling relegation most seasons in the National league than supposedly "winning" more matches at a lower level, as the problem getting back could be insurmountable. In fact the achievement of some of those escapes were unforgett...

Re: Dave Roberts - RIP

A lovely photograph and tribute on the official website..I didn't know Dave particularly well, probably only spoke to him a handful of times but like many fans at SFC-you associate that face solely to Southport Football Club...Here year in year out...
My sincere condolences to all concerned.

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Jason Gilchrist scores hat trick today for our opponents on Tuesday Well, that's a warning for next Tuesday night if ever there was one... You can't help but feel for all involved at SFC at present-owners,management,players,volunteers whoever....You prepare all week for a game and then have it calle...
