The state of play.

Never, even in my worst nightmare did I ever see the possibility of my local club dropping into the 7th level of football. In a season which commemorates 50 years since Southport FC achieved possibly it's biggest ever prize by winning division 4 of the Football League (EFL 2 today) I reckon their is...

Re: Bootle (A)

So didn't see Liam at the game. George is on holiday abroad. Bell dislocated his knee cap. Oh and we scored from the only shot on target Still looking for positivies Here we go again.. Make no mistake that's a serious injury for a big burly lad who I think we were all hoping was going to help our g...

Re: Southport v Marine

I don't think we learned anything that we didn't already know from last night's game. Some good minutes put into players with rotation as you would expect. A forgettable first half with an improved second.I'm not one for having a go at individuals and certainly won't with pre season matches. The most...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Great to hear that Doug Tharme was highlighted in Blackpool's 1.0 win at Salford City last night..
Appleton needs to realise that he's inherited a great prospect in Doug..

Re: Southport v Marine

You can't particularly judge the two home games against EFL opposition so far (maybe Lancaster City) but the reliance on Connor Woods and Niall Watson to supply is a bit samey-not always forthcoming, and I think we should be trying a different formation or two, even if it isn't used straight away.Mayb...

PS I hope that Blackpool FC will be sent the bill for repairs/replacing the damaged steel mesh barriers.

Re: Todays game -Blackpool FC

Excellent post Rabbit-and thanks for clarifying exactly what happened on the day. I was under the impression that the main gate was "open" which it clearly wasn't BUT was also unaware that Blackpool fans had kicked down the steel mesh barriers along side the main gate and gained entry into...

Re: Fixture release 22/23

It's a daunting fixture list-simply because of the amount of football to be played.5/6 games per month from August until April without any FA Cup replays,Lancs Junior Cup fixtures. What the authorities who are organising this are thinking I'm not sure-but two things are certain, they are not thinking...

Re: Todays game -Blackpool FC

I presume these are the same set of stwards who were partly responsible for allowing the pitch invasion at Goodison Park at the end of last season? Correct. But find me any set of stewards (and a whole police force) that can stop 20,000 people storming a football pitch at full time A Premier League...

Re: Todays game -Blackpool FC

Poor stewarding is ultimately responsible for this episode-which would and should have been avoided if they had been organised. Many things have improved at SFC under Ian Kyle-sadly not the stewarding which has had several issues in the past.Hence because they couldn't do their job properly-Merseysid...

Re: Todays game -Blackpool FC

Must have hit a bad time when I was there then.. Traffic backed up from Tarleton lights up to the Croston "roundabout turn"-reckon I'd have been there yet if I'd waited... It's like that every day until the new Aldi is almost finished. I joined the queue as far back as Embley's garden cen...

Re: Todays game -Blackpool FC

It may be too late for many-but just to warn people travelling in from the Preston direction that the A565 at Tarleton traffic lights has a 4 way lights system and is causing havoc. Croston Village is also closed from two directions. Sheer mayhem. Mawdsley Village,Rufford,Mere Brow was my way throu...

Re: RIP Alex Russell

I still havn't heard or seen any details regarding the funeral of Alex Russell? Perhaps it's "family only" which is fine if that's the case? If anyone on here knows details of the arrangements then perhaps they could share them? Thanks. According to the Champion, it's at West Lancs Crem, ...

Re: New Signing

Welcome to the club Keenan... Whilst I understand the flexibility required by Liam (in having a small squad) that players can play in different positions,I tire a bit when it seems constant...If you're not careful-you end up with a mish mash where the player doesn't know his best position and ends u...

I don’t think that their Board would be happy if he is released without playing a game after they only recently paid a fee for him.
Not all money paid "up front" for him I was led to believe so....

Re: Update with Liam and Ian

it's difficult to see what's going to be different this season to last-and that's not a criticism of Ian Kyle or Liam Watson. No new major investment in the club (anybody out there-get in touch with the board as Ian Kyle says) I'm sure all offers would be welcomed and looked at. Yes,the group of play...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

It must be quite unsettling for Doug Tharme...A new Manager installed before he's even kicked a ball for them.."Alleged talk" of bringing players in by Appleton...The Appleton appointment (for the second time at Blackpool FC) must be a bit of a gamble..He seems to have a good reputation wi...
