Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

I'm a big fan of old kits, hence the retro range available from the FPA. Southport Central started in 1888 with a white shirt and blue shorts...A very nice retro version of which will soon be available. It's interesting to see club colours listed as one of the heritage items listed in the independen...

Re: Cliff Marshall

I think Bill Perry may have been the first? RIP Cliff. His mother was South African, but I don't think Bill Perry was black...The first black player to play for England is widely credited as Viv Anderson in 1978 but Bill Perry played for England in 1955/56. I believe Southport's first black player ...

Re: Pure Legal reportedly go into Administration

From the article I provided a link to: In 2018 a change of company name resolution was passed whereby Pinewise Limited was renamed Southport Football Club Limited. Revised Articles of association were issued a month later. As the change of name can only take place by special resolution at an AGM (he...

It didn't cease to exist, it changed it's name.

Re: Pure Legal reportedly go into Administration

The Statement of administrator's proposal released on companies House on Friday confirms Southport as an unsecured creditor to the tune of £75,700, second only in terms of size of debt to Huddersfield Town's £490,666. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/10125023/filing...

November 2021 FPA Update

Whilst the majority of our focus over the past few months has been in arranging our 2021 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and former player reunion event, we have still been quietly researching in the background. Mark Iddon has continued to delve into the first world war period and, in the week follo...

Re: New Fundraising Lottery for Community Teams & FPA

This week the Former Players Association made a donation of over £280 to the Southport FC Community Teams.

Each entry of just £1 stands a chance of winning £25,000, with smaller prizes also available for matching fewer numbers.

Re: Southport 3 - 3 Gateshead - Match Thread

Our best season in the conference was in 1994/95 where we finished third. We started with a 1-1 draw away at Bromsgrove but did have a very iffy start. Aside from a couple of decent wins, against Gateshead and Kidderminster, we had lost 6 games by the end of September.

Southport& District League Open Age Team

Good evening all For a number of years Ian Showering has managed a team within our Junior section and last year finished up in youth football with an under 18s team. As is typical at that age many of the players then left to go to university. However, a number of the lads wanted to continue playing ...

Re: FA YOUTH CUP

I appreciate it is a big leap from Youth to senior first team football but there are a lot of Southport based gems playing at out of town clubs. I'm sure there are, but even Manchester United don't have a monopoly on every player born in Manchester. It just doesn't work like that. Don't forget that...

Re: FA YOUTH CUP

Thanks for the reply Dan. Interesting stuff. You don't consider the JPL a high enough standard for a Southport youth team? Fylde, Rochdale, Tranmere and the likes did last season. Anyway let's hope plenty of local lads pull on the shirt in the future. It's a better standard than local district foot...

Re: FA YOUTH CUP

Sad state of affairs really. There are some really talented boys in the town 15//16/17 who have been at Premier and EFL academies and things haven't quite worked out for one reason or another but they have to go out of town to play a good enough standard and put themselves back in the shoo window. ...

Re: FA YOUTH CUP

Hi all. I'll respond here... As some of you know I've been involved with the Junior section for quite a while now. Long and short of it is that we no longer have an "academy" section running at u17 and u18 and it is the academy that would normally be entered. This however was due to be rep...
