Re: Halifax FA Trophy

Only got bad memories of going to Halifax, bit of a voodoo ground. Was that 02/03 game the last time we won there? I remember losing in the last minute in 05/06, getting cheated out of a win in 06/07 when Blakeman ended up in net, lost under A Wright 0-1 and Foyle 1-2, think we blew a 2-0 lead to dr...

Re: Darlington off

My primary concern is the league stumbles on for a few more weeks before being settled by PPG or after one round of fixtures. In that eventuality, we only need lose our next two or three games and we could be finished. The next league game, whenever that is, is massive. With the threat of early curt...

Re: Match Thread - Southport V Curzon Ashton

There may have already been conversations behind the scenes about changes to the management team in the summer. We cannot continue limping along season after season, but this is a dangerous time to replace a manager, we are only just above the relegation zone on PPG and with the covid context, scram...

Re: Match Thread - Southport V Curzon Ashton

One win in nine matches and one home win all season. Those stats would be disappointing in the National League, but for that to have happened at this level is indefensible and frankly, not something I could have believed possible a few years ago. The match was an improvement on previous displays, th...

Curzon - Boxing Day

Anyone bothering? Given the impending lockdown that is likely to come after Christmas or in early January, I imagine this will be the last chance to attend before the walls come up again. I am stuck somewhere between taking advantage of what will probably be the final opportunity to watch live footb...

Re: Match Thread - Marine V Southport

Sounded a bit smash and grab particularly in the first half, with Tony Mac rolling back the years, but we've avoided an embarrassment and that's enough. Few bob in the bank never hurts either, as Exiled says that is £5k in the pot which is better than a kick in the gentlemen's region. Welcome switch...

Re: A view from the jack carr

Too many young players have been thrown in at the deep end too quickly. Watson dug a couple out yesterday, but he has to take responsibility for exposing them all at the same time. I believe that Bainbridge, Anson, Oliver and Ali all have enough ability to become good players at this level. However ...

Re: A view from the jack carr

Brabin would be a mistake. He is not the type of manager who can undertake a 'project' and develop a club over successive seasons, he is an impact manager who boots the door down, gets a reaction, then moves on three months later. It is premature to discuss replacements with Watson still in post. I ...

Re: FT: Guiseley 4 - 2 Southport

This reminds me a bit of 2018/19 - hoping eventually things will.turn around as they did then when we went and pumped Kidderminster 4-1. That side had a lot of talent in it that wasn't being used very effectively to begin with - the Christmas Pudding makes it difficult to assess this squad properly...

Re: FT: Guiseley 4 - 2 Southport

We're in a poor run of form but let's give the manager the chance to sort it out. In this weird season, and all the uncertainly, I think there's a lot to be said for stability and togetherness. They are two things we have not had in any capacity when Liam Watson has not been in charge. Alan Wright?...

Re: Guiseley 3 - 1 Southport

Move Liam into a director of football role or something, get rid of McCarthy, get a coach in who knows what he’s doing. But who can make this decision??? Watson is director no one is gonna have the balls to move him Ian Kyle. Also Liam is a director and wants the best for the club. Even he must be ...

Re: Guiseley 3 - 1 Southport

Under usual conditions, that would be that for Watson and McCarthy I'm afraid, you would expect an announcement this evening. 15 points from 13 games is relegation territory, only the mismatch in games played prevents the table from reflecting that. There are no signs of any progress, we are far wor...

Re: Matchday Thread: Guiseley v Southport

Excellent coverage. Game of crosses so far, both teams look dangerous with balls into the box. Pleasing to see us carry more of a threat, Woods on set pieces helps as he has a wicked delivery. Morgan and Benjamin have won more battles than they've lost, good to see them not being dominated for once....

Re: Southport 1 - 1 Alfreton

Could the Mods tidy up this thread there's a lot of echoes... I agree the interview was depressing. I do not expext Liam to come out and batter the team in his interviews, it's a young side and that would do more harm than good, but I get no impression that he even recognises there's a problem. McCa...

Re: Southport 1 - 1 Alfreton

The words 'two poor teams' were meant for today, although the lack of football ability on show was eclipsed only by the refereeing performance. No grip on the game, Alfreton were taking the mick out of him. No gripes there, they clocked it was a weak ref and played on it. The goalkeeper hitting the ...

Re: Southport 0 - 1 Farsley

I had some assumptions about us this season having seen some streaming, tonight only served to back that up. Horror show of a system with players pulled around out of position, Bainbridge as a wing back? Don't make me laugh. I could criticise performances, Bainbridge, Morgan, Carver, Watson (second ...

Re: Farsley - Wed

I get the impression the club are looking for a smaller crowd for the first 'trial run' match. Tickets have not been pushed on social media channels apart from the original post saying they were available. All feels intentionally low key. Not sure where you're looking but I've seen plenty publicity...
