Re: Season declared null and void

The concept of a mini league is nonsensical of course. But would the participants be quite as keen to take part if the bottom teams were to be relegated?

Re: Carry on football!

NLN /S clubs have been told that they have to resume playing on Saturday. As for the PR9 issue, I agree Torquay shouldn't be expected to travel. However we all know that if they refuse to do so they will be deemed to have forfeited their place and Southport will go though to the next round by defau...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Former Port midfielder David Lynch (Clitheroe manager) signs for Marine so he can play against Tottenham in the FA Cup third round. Has been managed by Neil Young before, may play against Mourinho’s team and will then return to his day job after the tie. Strange. That is a strange one. Marine have ...

It’s brilliant and at times almost like reading my own diary as Sean recounts his experiences of those bygone days

Billy Bingham is by a country mile the greatest manager Southport have ever had

Re: Carry on football!

I'm happy for fit, professional athletes to continue to entertain us via the safety of our TV and computer screens during these dreadful times

Though including National League North teams within this category does stretch credibility a bit

Re: Favourite kits

There was a photo in the newspaper in the sixties of 4 or 5 players wearing tights. They never played in them, just wore them in training to keep warm. Redrobe and Andrews were 2 of them but I don't remember who the others were. I'm sure someone will post the photo soon! Stuart Shaw was one, I’ve g...

We also get a mention in the Sunday Times today, referencing our 11-0 Boxing Day defeat in 1962, ‘the weather was decent enough at Oldham..’

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the nasty foul on Hanford that left him immobilised and consequently unable to deal with the crosses into the box

Re: FT: Guiseley 4 - 2 Southport

Depressing but very predictable to watch A wafer thin defence built on 3 centre backs, none of whom is very good. 2 wing backs who can’t cross a ball to save their lives. Centre mid of Morgan and Benjamin who get overrun every week. Front 3 who are hugely inconsistent but to be fair did ok today whe...

Re: Matchday Thread: Guiseley v Southport

Carver looks for all the world like an inferior version of Jack Sampson. Works really hard and wins a few headers but presents zero goal threat

This is all very positive stuff

It's a long time and a long way - 15 years this month to be precise - since the club REFUSED sponsorship that we had organised via portchat

Re: Southport 1-1 South Shields - Match Thread

We lost Dominated much of the first half without too many clear cut chances (bizarre goal aside) or their goalie making many saves SS always looked threatening, particularly with Gilchrist on the ball and were the better side after the break, when I thought we were poor and resorted to ineffective l...
