Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread
Absolute hammering, men v boys.
Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread
Garner the big difference - our balls in poor - he has not missed - we have missed !!
Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread
Hanford at fault for goal 2.
Goal 3 was quality.
Ali having a shocker.
Desperately need a midfielder - Bainbridge is not a midfielder...

Tell me this team is any better than last season, or the season before, or the season before that...

Asante and McClure have scored again for Gloucester. Could have done with them today!
Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread
Just looked Ged Garner who has got the Gateshead hat-trick up in Google. . . Apparently he was with Southport on loan in 2017 but didn't appear for the first team. . . Oh dear

I’m really worried with this squad. We’re desperate for some new players of quality

Got to go out to work. Funny enough, I am not completely gutted as I usually am when we are getting battered (excuse the pun). Good quality stream, commentary has been fair and enjoyable to listen to (despite scoreline). No reason to get all "season over" - though no doubt, some will have that as their main argument. I look forward to reading all about it later

Having problem with streaming - I can still see it

Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread
4-0 flattering for Gateshead, who looked much fresher, but masters of our own downfall.
Sloppy pass from Challoner that led to first
Error from Hanford for second
Harsh penalty for fourth.
But created little and a day to forget. Shame.
EDIT:
4-1 - now a fair reflection!

1-4. Jordan Archer
Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread
We're back in it!!! 4-1

Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread
I actually thought that attacking-wise we looked better today and created quite a few chances, although we don’t shoot often enough! I think all of their goals came down their left (our right) - it was far too easy for Garner to drift away from Mo Ali and give himself lots of time and space. He had a very poor game, although the penalty looked harsh.
Re: Gateshead V Southport - Match Thread
First half I thought we didn't deserve to go in 1-0 down. Our approach play was ok, but we fell apart as soon as we got near their penalty area. Their goal was a soft one to conceded, Ali let Garner have far too much space and we got punished for it.
The start of the second half was utterly pathetic from us. Ali looked hopeless for their second, turning completely the wrong way to let Garner have space again. Once again Handford let a near post shot slip through his hands. Third goal our side might have well have just all sat down on the floor, that's how easy it was for Gateshead to walk through us. Throw a silly penalty into the mix and it was game over, with Archer's consolation being just that.
7 points from 7 games now, hardly play-off form. When you take into account 3 of our 4 wins have come against 3 sides in the bottom 4, you get a good idea where we are as a team at the moment.

As Siddle says that was a flattering scoreline though it would be good to see the needless mistakes cut out of our game alongside a more clinical approach in front of goal...We had a couple of good chances in the first half that would have changed the match significantly. I can't remember the last time we came back to win a match having gone behind but it feels like a long time ago.
Not sure why Archer didn't start having scored in 2 of the last 3..did he have a knock or something?

Watson needs to get a settled side and sort out the issues in midfield.
Watson doesn't know his best formation or best team.
Ali was brought in as a left sided defender, but playing on the right. Anson plays on the right or in the middle. Hates playing on the left.
Morgan needs a partner in midfield. Bainbridge is not a midfielder.
Watson is best on the left. Archer should start every game.
Connor Woods is an enigma - talented, but ineffective, when not given any space.
Quick question - when Bainbridge has started in midfield, what has our record been?
