Penalties - even game.
Good to see Ali and Anson playing in their correct positions.

Well done Port. A spirited performance especially in the first and last 20 minutes.

The draw committee will now have to arrange our next away game.
Re: Match Thread - Spennymoor V Southport
Looked much more solid playing a 433. I thought we lost a bit of momentum when we went 442, then picked it back up again for the last period of the game. Archer, Antwi and Woods all looked good today, with Archer being our first forward in a while to give James Curtis a hard time.
As for the penalties, Tony Mac was very unlucky with the first two (can Own Goal be put down as a penalty scorer?), then saved one at a critical time. I'm not sure which penalty was worse though, Niall Watson's or Ben McKenna's! I always knew McKenna would come good for us eventually.

Brilliant stuff Port, well-deserved win. Woods was excellent when he came on - a much better shape and a really committed performance. Hopefully a home draw to come!
Re: Match Thread - Spennymoor V Southport
A hard fought win. Still not a lot of creativity untill Woods came on. He usually does well when he comes on but not when he starts. Niall Watson is not making the impact I was hoping for. We looked reasonably solid but Tony Mac had a couple of moments when trying to clear the ball. Newell is a goalscorer. Not sure how he doesn't start before Carver? This should be a confidence.
boost. Well done to all. Going to be a much happier Christmas now!!!

Well done sandgrounders great result, I was listening to the Wrexham v Leamington game Leamington dominated and won 6-5 on penalties.
It’s such a shame that we get so little radio coverage as I do not have the facilities to watch via a computer. So I end up listening to other games.

Well, after beating Marine last week, your confidence must have been sky high....

A much better performance and an unexpected win. Penalties always exciting! Look how much easier it is with an extra midfield player! Why has it taken so long for the Manager to realise that? What's more, and just as important, we earned £8,250 in prize money this week!

Much better shape 4-3-3 and would start Newell for Carver every time. Antwi made a difference in midfield and Woods was the difference when he came on. Keeper unlucky twice in the shoot out but once again showed what a good shot stopper he is and well deserves the plaudits. Once again wonder where they find these refs this one which ever way you look at it was bad for both sides, week and has obviously never played the game. Well done Port lets play like this on Boxing Day and cheer us all up.

Congratulations to the team for progressing, it was a result few would have envisioned after the Guiseley debacle. Hopefully, the team will continue to move forwards and will take a lot of confidence from the overall result.

Hopefully this performance & result will kick the club on for a while, impressive from most of the team with Antwi stand out when he was taken off, I like the way Spennymoor play, they have some Conference quality players, a good week for the club first & foremost, long may it continue......

Well done Port-that has to be the club's best result of the season so far? Matching one of the teams up there in National North on their own patch, coming from behind twice-and then to win on penalties must give confidence a boost? About time we got one over on Spennymoor too and win a penalty shootout-so well done to everyone. The problem of trying to solve the poor home form should have been helped a little today.

Totally agree, have said all week surely we are due a surprise result sometime as we seem to be the only team these days that never produces a rabbit out of the hat, in response I was told the win at Marine was our rabbityellowfever wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 6:49 pm Well done Port-that has to be the club's best result of the season so far?
