Curzon Away - 2nd Jan
Curzon Away - 2nd Jan
Not seen an official response from the club after Fylde's game was called off due to illness in the camp.
The last information was they were waiting for test results to come back.
Is the game on or off? Nothing on Curzon site either.
I thought it was a mandatory 14 days.

Re: Curzon Away - New Year's Day
Whether it's on or off it was always scheduled for 2nd Jan not New Year's Day

Even if both teams had been Covid free, the weather may well have caused a postponement.

“Given the protocols we have in place at The Pure Stadium we are confident that the two events are not linked”.
That’s making an assumption that 22 people breathing on each other over 90 minutes isn’t going to spread a highly infectious virus.

I’m no doctor either but there doesn’t seem to be much evidence that playing in the open air, with face to face contact limited to a few seconds at a time, poses a huge risk, particularly when players are tested regularly. There have been remarkably few cases amongst professional footballers. Boris’s advisors, who seem to want to close most things down, haven’t demanded football stops. It’s the crowds they worry about.

Quite right that’s my non medical opinion too. I suspect most of those that have tested positive have picked it up elsewhere socialising, shopping, partyingSandgrounder SE wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 7:24 pm I’m no doctor either but there doesn’t seem to be much evidence that playing in the open air, with face to face contact limited to a few seconds at a time, poses a huge risk, particularly when players are tested regularly. On field transmission is possible but the risk is very low.

Government stats show that over the last few weeks, the greatest sources of the infection has been in secondary schools followed by primary schools and nurseries. Many footballers have nursery / primary school aged children, some younger players have secondary school age siblings. Some have partners who work in schools. That's where most of the adult cases are coming from, not from playing football in the fresh air.

While the chances are said to be slim, they are still very much possible. Luton had their game with QPR called off this week, days after playing Bristol City - who’s game was also called off.
I caught Covid with a lot less personal contact than anyone who plays football once or twice a week.
FWIW - wasn’t my intention to knit-pick, just raised an eyebrow when I read it.

I assume the second test result has come back now. The player was still waiting on 31st Dec
I assume it is negative and next weekend's game proceeds otherwise we would have heard from the club.

5 mins later, the club confirms my thoughts....
Looking for an excuse to cancel the Fylde game - small squad, injuries, 2 days between matches

From SFC:
'We are pleased to confirm that both of the players who were showing COVID symptoms have both now had negative test results returned.
Our game against Darlington, will as it stands, go ahead as planned.'

When the match v Chester Away is postponed the 3 matches to rearrange are all away, it is not looking good, we need a couple of wins pretty quick, but you could say our "form"is better away!
