Golden Days

Post by Redrobe fan »

My copy of ‘Golden Days’ by Sean McPartlin arrived this morning.

I can’t put it down!

I strongly recommend it, especially if you were there in the sixties.

I just wish this history would repeat itself in some small way for all the current and long suffering Port supporters - one day perhaps 🙏

Fantastic read and you just cannot put it down.

Just a shame where the club is now compared to the Bingham years- a manager who certainly knew what he was doing!

What a wonderful read for those of us who were there in the sixties and seventies and you younger folk who want to know what it was really like. Fantastic memories of doing the same things as the author and remembering great players. Thank the Lord that most people's two favourites, Eric Redrobe and Alex Russell, are still with us (hope they will be for a long time to come). The book is easy to read and is beautifully written. Will some elderly gentleman (or lady) please now write a book about the fifties in a similar manner?!!

Spoke to Alex in November has got his old printing shop on the market. Top man should be on the board of Southport FC. In my view. 8-)

It’s brilliant and at times almost like reading my own diary as Sean recounts his experiences of those bygone days

Billy Bingham is by a country mile the greatest manager Southport have ever had
