This is the best we’ve played for ages- if we go on to lose we have done ourselves credit against the best team in the division above. If woods and Watson had their shooting boots on...... Not missed Morgan - Bainbridge’s best performance this season
Re: Match Thread - Southport V Big Professional Torquay
And Ali and Connor it’s been a good performance
Missed too many good chances so far though

Proud of the guys today. No apparent hole left by Morgan - and his absence may have freed a few players to step up in both position and style.

Good performance, Adam Anson excellent, shame we couldn't finish our chances.

Game of missed chances for Port. Can't fault the effort from the lads. Good commentary and streaming too.

Down to the bare bones, but we had enough good chances to win the match.
Better side for most of the second half.

Well if thats the last game of the season we finish with a decent performance. If we played like that more often against teams in our league we'd have won a lot more games. The main difference was we played on the ground more, Woods and Watson gave both full backs the run around. I know its a big if - but if we'd have taken our chances
Soft goal given away and the second from chasing the game.
Overall, Anson and Ali outstanding, Archer excellent as target man, Woods mostly outstanding but which he had a better end product, Bainbridge's best game, worked hard breaking up play and put in some nice passes, Watson grew in confidence - was it a pen, Tony Mac gives me more confidence than Hanford.
I don't know what happens next or how many of these players will still be with us when we next play but really encouraging performance (and against Halifax).
Where was Newell, Winnard & Carver? Good to see Marcus Wood was on the bench too

Agree with all that, apart from the result well worth TheSgreen1234 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 4:30 pm This is the best we’ve played for ages- if we go on to lose we have done ourselves credit against the best team in the division above. £9-99p.
Watson and Woods on the wings was a revelation most wing play I have seen for years and that’s what I want to see.
Well played, hard luck.
I think McMillan should play more also.

The boys did well. Torquay look a good side and I wish them luck. Now we need to see some resolution to the season. Personally I still think that the clubs that have made a stand for the season to be voided need to stick together. Hopefully the situation will be improved enough to make season 21/22 safe.

OK performance against a Torquay team that didn’t have to pull out the stops after that rather easy first goal. Watson and Woods played well but Connor is often over-elaborate. Some woeful shooting from distance.
If the season does continue we are going to have to strengthen. But surely we can’t go on with the number of games being postponed?

What has happened to Newell then?
I thought that was a great performance from the whole team against the top non league team in the country currently. Couple of clear missed chances and we could have won. Well played lads! Probably earned around £5k from today, which is definitely needed.

A good performance. As others have said too many chances spurned. I thought that we were looking at a heavy defeat after conceding a very soft goal early doors but we fought back well. If the season continues (which it shouldn't) we need some firepower as we looked devoid in that area today. Are all the other regulars injured? (Newell, etc.)

Not sure whether to call the performance ‘encouraging’ as there may not be any more games this season to be encouraged for! Morgan’s absence saw quite a few players step up with Bainbridge, Vasallo and Woods all very good. On Connor’s lack of cutting edge & sometimes inconsistency I’d say this - young players learn from minutes on the pitch so playing more often will see improvements in both. I think he’s very good already & should now be selected each match to take the game to opponents. Id also say that Ali, Anson and Archer were impressive today.
Hope we get to see them again this season although it needs the safety of both players & staff to be a priority and a workable financial plan - if that’s not forthcoming then the season should end.
