I remember Spencer playing in our away defeat at Tranmere in April 2017. He had quite an eventful afternoon. Booked (should have been a straight red) for a horrendous challenge on the lovely Lee Vaughan which resulted in Vaughan suffering a broken leg. Then he (Spencer) scored our goal before himself being substituted.

Interesting that the two players, if it is them or not have not been announced, after the comments about two players signing last Tuesday, and that it is to be announced in the next day or so!

Unless the Sky info on Myers relates to his previous spell with Port, and it just didn't come up when I first searched his name and 'footballer'. Hopefully there will be clarification this week - no doubt with a photo of the players holding up a Port shirt, or signing in the office, pen poised over the contract, with the secretary; that seems to be the tradition.

It's absolutely imperative that we go into a season with a squad of players who are fit enough of playing a full season.
That may sound simplistic, but vitally important.
Injury prone players or 50/50 doubts are a complete no no for me.
We've had far too many players who've fitted that bill in recent seasons.

444 or even 544 may be best to give us a reasonable chance...... :)

Squad, as it stands (3/6/21)

GK:
Tony McMillan
Cameron Mason

DF:
Charlie Oliver
Jack Bainbridge
Adam Anson
Douglas Tharme
Chris Doyle
Jack Doyle

MF:
Connor Woods
Niall Watson
* Marcus Wood
Charlie Munro
Russell Benjamin
Dylan Vassallo

FW:
Jordan Archer
Marcus Carver
** George Newell

** Injured
* May given a new contract.

17 players, including Newell and Wood. A suspicion that either Oliver or Bainbridge will be played at right-back, but desperate for one or two established centre midfielders.

Russell Benjamin missing from your list, which is one of those centre mid options, suspect another may be the boy Hmami depending on if he's agreed to sign or just on trial.

When Chris Doyle signed Liam said ‘I have had Chris in my sights for some time, he is a natural leader, a winner, a great communicator and the fittest he has ever been and with Doug (Tharme) Adam (Anson) and now Chris we have a very strong back line’ which suggests Bainbridge is seen as a midfielder. Personally I think he’s better in defence but when we reverted from 3 centre halves to 2 he was moved into midfield.

Its look like goals will be hard to find again with Carver & Archer up front, whilst they run & run for the cause the end product was not there last time out, maybe they will get inspiration from Sterling & Kane's hat trick today v Ukraine.......... :)

Archer scored 4 in 8 league games since his return, yes a small sample size but a 1 in 2 record at this level is very good. Hopefully he can carry on that form into next season. I think with Morgan gone he's definitely one of our better players at the moment.

I dont feel like we have seen the best of Carver yet, but he's scored plenty at this level for Chorley, hoping a more settled season will help both players, and that they can become a good foil for one another.

So unfortunate too that we have lost Newell as he has shown a knack for scoring, let's all hope he's back sooner rather than later.
